Britain’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), which oversees competition laws, yesterday began examining the implications of AMD’s $ 35 billion purchase of Xilinx.

The largest deal in AMD history was announced last October. Then it was assumed that it will be completed by the end of the 2021 calendar year. As usual, the transaction requires the approval of the shareholders of both companies, as well as the approval of the regulatory authorities.
AMD and Xilinx shareholders approved AMD’s purchase of Xilinx about a month ago.
The CMA has now asked the public for an opinion on the deal. The source notes that the purchase of Xilinx has not met with resistance from the tech giants, unlike the purchase of Arm by Nvidia.
