UK remains open to talks with EU on financial equivalence – Boris Johnson Spokesperson

The Spokesperson for the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, said Thursday that UK exchanges remain among the largest in the world, adding that are still open to talks with the European Union on financial equivalence, according to Reuters.

“The fragmentation of equity trading in financial centers is of no interest to anyone,” the spokesman added.

Market reaction

These comments were largely ignored by market participants. At the time of writing, the UK’s FTSE 100 index is largely unchanged on the day at 6,526. Meanwhile, the GBP / USD pair records small daily gains at 1.3833.
