Russia hit the Pechenihy dam on the Siverskyi Donets River in northeastern Ukraine this week using short-range ballistic missiles or similar weapons, the UK military said on Saturday.
The September 21-22 attack followed an earlier one at the Karachunivske dam near Krivyi Rih in central Ukraine on September 15, the Defense Ministry said in its daily intelligence bulletin.
He added that Ukrainian forces are advancing along both rivers.
Russian commanders may be trying to attack the dam sluices to flood Ukrainian military crossing points, the ministry claimed in its bulletin posted on social media.
The attacks are unlikely to have caused significant disruptions to Ukrainian operations due to the distance between the damaged dams and combat zones, according to the ministry.
