UK says Russia looking to bolster its army after rising losses

British military intelligence, in a report on the situation of the war released on Sunday (10), said that the Russian armed forces have been trying to strengthen the army with personnel released from military service since 2012, in response to the “increase in losses” in the conflict. .

That effort would also include trying to recruit fighters from the Transnistria region of Moldova, according to the British Defense Ministry report posted on Twitter.

This comes days after Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov admitted that Russia suffered “significant” losses of its troops in Ukraine. Still, Peskov did not link this to the withdrawal of the Russian army from some regions.

On Saturday, British military intelligence said that Russia continued to attack civilians and that the focus of its army was in the regions of Donbass, Mariupol and Mykolaiv.

In addition, the institution predicted that fighting and air strikes should increase in southern and eastern Ukraine, in order to assist the operation in the aforementioned regions.

Also on Saturday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was in Kiev, on a sort of “surprise visit”, as it has not been previously disclosed by either the UK or Ukraine.

Nine humanitarian corridors to open this Sunday, says Ukraine

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk announced the opening of nine humanitarian corridors this Sunday (10) for the regions of Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk and Donetsk.

According to the statement, it is planned to evacuate citizens to Zaporizhzhia from the cities of Mariupol – only by their own transport -, Berdyansk, Tokmak and Enerhodar – these three with their own transport and buses.

In the Luhansk region, people will be able to drive to the city of Bakhmut from Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, Popasna, Rubizhne, Gorsky.

On Saturday (9), 10 humanitarian corridors were opened, according to Vereshchuk.
