Ukraine: A soldier killed in clashes with pro-Russian separatists

A Ukrainian soldier was killed today, Tuesday, in the front line of battle with pro-Russian separatists in the eastern part of the country, according to the country’s army, in an area where regular outbreaks of violence are recorded.

“As a result of the enemy fire, one soldier was fatally wounded,” the Ukrainian military said in a statement. Another one soldier wounded, is added.

According to AFP, the Ukrainian army accused the pro-Russian separatists of firing many attacks with grenades and machine guns, earlier today, against Ukrainian forces.

It is recalled that Ukraine is in conflict with pro-Russian separatists, since 2014.

The war, which broke out shortly after the annexation of Crimea by Moscow, has so far cost more than 13,000 lives.

From the beginning of the year, at least 57 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed, compared to 50 throughout 2020, during the RES EIA. For their part, the separatists have reported an approximate loss 40 their fighters from the beginning of the year.

It is noted that the Russia has always claimed that it does not equip the separatists, despite numerous reports of men and weapons being sent in support of them.

Following the large-scale ceasefire in the second half of 2020, however, tensions have escalated this year.
