Ukraine, all civilians evacuated from the Azofstal steel plant were rescued

On Saturday 7 May the Russian army skyrocketed a school with a shelter in the village of Bilohirivka, in the Lugansk region. Dramatic photos of the reduced to rubble of the building appeared on Telegram. While the rescue operation continues several hours after the attack, the military leaders of the region doubt that they will still be able to find any survivorsthe. The head of the regional military administration Sergii Gaidai communicates on Telegram the verdict: “All 60 people left under the rubble of the buildings are most likely dead.”

Fortunately it turns out that 300 civilians have been secured since the launch of the evacuation from the Azovstal steel plant. This was communicated in a message to the country on Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky: «I am grateful to the teams of the International Committee of the Red Cross and the United Nations for helping us to conclude the first phase of the evacuation mission. More than 300 people were rescued, women and children ”.

Confirmation of the news by Moscow: “The humanitarian operation which consisted of evacuating peaceful civilians from the Azovstal steelworks has ended,” said Mikhail Mizintsev, director of the Russian Defense Control Center.

President Zelensky has meanwhile announced preparations for phase 2 of the evacuation missionaimed at the salvation of the wounded and wounded doctors.

«Let’s not lose hope. We do not stop. Every day we look for a diplomatic option that can work, ”commented the Ukrainian president.
