Ukraine: At least three civilians killed in air raid on Lisichansk city

At least three civilians were killed and more than seven were injured in an airstrike on a refugee building in the eastern Ukrainian city of Lisichansk on Friday, said Luhansk regional governor Serhiy Gaidai.

Lisichansk is located on the other side of the Siversky Donetsk River from the battlefield of the city of Sheverodonetsk, where some of the fiercest street battles during the Russian invasion of Ukraine have been raging in recent weeks.

Undersecretary of Defense Anna Maliar stated earlier that Russia’s strategic goal in the war against Ukraine is the complete destruction of the Ukrainian statehood and the Ukrainian nation.

According to a statement, the situation remains difficult for Ukrainian forces and Russia is now focusing mainly on establishing full control over the Luhansk and Dotensk regions of eastern Ukraine.
