A British journalist who covered the war in Ukraine for Fox News was injured and taken to a hospital near Kyiv on Monday, the American television network broadcast without clarifying the severity of his injuries.
“Earlier today, our envoy Benjamin Hall was injured while gathering information outside Kyiv,” Fox News said in a statement.
“At the moment we do not have much information, but Ben has been hospitalized and our field teams are trying to gather additional information at a time when the situation is evolving rapidly,” the statement added.
“This is a harsh reminder to all journalists who risk their lives every day to carry information from the war zone,” Fox News said.
Ukraine’s Attorney General Irina Venediktova announced yesterday on her Facebook account that a British journalist had been injured in the leg by a mortar and was being treated in an intensive care unit.
He had also posted a photo of his official accreditation but covering the name and part of the journalist’s face.
On Sunday, an American journalist was killed and another wounded by gunfire in Irpin, a northwestern suburb of Kiev, where heavy fighting has been raging for days.
Brent Reno, a 50-year-old photographer and director, was shot in the neck while riding in his car, according to a Ukrainian doctor.
He was the first foreign journalist to die since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. A Ukrainian journalist has been killed in a bomb blast near a television tower in Kyiv.
