Ukraine calls for sanctions on ‘Russian TV propagandists’

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba today called on the West to impose sanctions on “Russian TV propagandists”, on the eve of NATO and EU summits on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

“Russian television propagandists are worse than Russian pilots. Pilots are at least at risk of being killed (…) Impose sanctions on each of them,” Kuleba said in a Twitter message.

“Eliminate all toxic Russian propaganda and those who support it,” he said, adding that “speaking leaders sleep in safe conditions, then go out into the air and call for nuclear strikes or NATO invasions.”

Following the invasion of Ukraine, Western countries imposed sanctions on several Russian officials, including against the head of the state-run television network RT, which broadcasts in foreign languages Margarita Simonian.

The EU has also banned the broadcasting of Sputnik and RT media content in English, German, French and Spanish on television and the Internet.

An extraordinary NATO summit has been called for tomorrow, Thursday, the day when the G7 summit and the EU summit will also be held in Brussels.

US President Joe Biden, who will attend the three summits, has already announced that the West will adopt “new sanctions against Russia and strengthen” those that have already been imposed.
