Ukraine’s grain exports for March were four times lower than in February due to the Russian invasion, the economy ministry said today.
March grain exports included 1.1 million tonnes of corn, 309,000 tonnes of wheat and 118,000 tonnes of sunflower oil, the ministry added.
Ukraine was the fourth largest exporter of cereals in the world for the period 2020/21, according to the International Grains Council, with the largest quantities being exported through the Black Sea.
However, with the war escalating across most of the coastline, traders were forced to transport larger quantities of grain by rail.
