Ukraine demands $300 billion in war reparations from Russia

Ukraine is seeking over $300 billion in war reparations from the Russia, said Ukrainian Justice Minister Denis Maliuska. Kyiv wants the UN General Assembly to approve a resolution that would allow the creation of an international mechanism to claim war reparations, Mr. Maliuska said in an interview with the Funke Group media published today.

Although the value of the damage to Ukraine’s infrastructure due to the invasion of the Russian army is estimated to be much higher than the amount quoted by the Ukrainian justice minister, the figure of $300 billion is the total of the reimgs of Russia’s central bank which are located in the G7 states that were engaged in the context of Western sanctions against Moscow after the February 24 invasionas broadcast by the German Agency and relayed by the Athens News Agency.

In addition to asking for frozen Russian state funds, Mr. Maliuska said Kyiv would seek to hand over frozen funds and frozen assets abroad of Russian state-owned companies and Russian oligarchs.
