Ukraine, Elina and Salvamamme: “This is how we help Ukrainian women who arrive in Italy”

When coincidences seem to predict the course of events, they take away the words. So when Elina Bohdanova begins to tell about her last week of hers lived in Italy, in Rome, she seems to be looking far away for her words. In Kiev, Elina graduated in translation from the Italian language and here in Rome she continued her studies specializing in visual arts. «Here I collaborate with the Salvamamme association and together with them we are activating a first assistance service and psychological support for Ukrainian women arriving in Italy ». Just in these hours, from the collaboration between the Romeni in Italia association and Salvamamme, a 20-meter long articulated lorry with 22 tons of aid for the affected population left for Ukraine.

«The Italian-Ukrainian information and support point, within the Salvamamme association, is active every day to help those fleeing the war. At the Salvamamme center, basic necessities, food, clothing are available and thanks to the presence of mediators and psychologists, each person will be provided with the help they need.

«A little while ago the first Ukrainian mother arrived, her name is Rome. We gave her clothes for her children: she needed shoes, socks and underwear. The first requests are also arriving and we are doing our best to manage them all as best we can ».

In the coming days, with the support of the Commission of Elected for Equal Opportunities of the Municipality of Rome, a nursery truck will depart which will try to help the children evacuated from the most affected areas at the request of the Ukrainian institutions.
