Ukraine: Extraordinary digital meeting of G7 Agriculture Ministers on food security

Germany is hosting a digital meeting of G7 agriculture ministers on Friday to discuss the impact of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on global food security and how food markets can be stabilized, the German government said.

“Feed supply in Germany and the European Union is safe, but major shortages can be expected in some non-EU countries – especially where shortages are already being recorded today, due to problems such as drought,” said Cem Ezdemir, Germany’s agriculture minister. .

“Rising prices for agricultural products can not be ruled out even in the most industrialized countries,” he added.

This year, Germany holds the rotating presidency of the Group of Seven most industrialized countries in the world.
