Four civilians have been killed by shelling by Ukrainian forces in the past 24 hours, Russian-backed separatists in Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, said today.
According to a message posted on the separatists’ official Telegram account, 4 people were killed and 11 others injured between 08:00 local time yesterday, Wednesday, and 08:00 today.
Reuters was unable to independently verify this information.
The city of Donetsk has been controlled by Russian-backed separatists since 2014. Ukrainian forces continue to hold positions on the outskirts of the city.
Donetsk separatist authorities have repeatedly accused Ukraine of shelling the city of the same name. Earlier this month they blamed Ukrainian forces for bombing a bus stop.
