Ukraine: Germany, Netherlands send more long-range guns

Germany and the Netherlands will jointly supply six more PzH 2000 self-propelled guns to Ukraine, German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht announced on Tuesday.

Ms. Lambrecht announced the delivery of the extra heavy weapons on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Madrid together with her Dutch counterpart Kaisa Olongren.

Last week, seven PzH 2000s arrived in Ukraine, 155 mm self-propelled guns adapted to armor. This was the first delivery of German heavy weapons to the Ukrainian army since the Russian invasion began on February 24.

These artillery systems are considered to be among the most powerful in the world. They are capable of a very high firing rate: they can fire 10 to 13 times a minute non-stop thanks to the automated loading of 60 missiles. Their effective range reaches 30-40 kilometers depending on the ammunition, the maximum is approaching 70.
