Ukrainian authorities have arrested a “hacker” who allegedly helped Russian officials send commands and instructions via mobile networks to Russian troops, Ukraine’s SBU security service said on Tuesday.
The suspect, who was not identified by the SBU, is accused of engaging in “thousands” of telephone conversations with Russian officials, including senior military officials, and of sending text messages to Ukrainian officials urging them to surrender.
According to CNN, the battle for control of communications networks in Ukraine continues as the Russian army continues to bomb Kyiv.
It is noted that last week hackers disrupted the Ukrainian Internet service provider Triolan, which serves customers in major cities. Triolan blamed the “enemy” for interrupting its services by photographing Russia, but did not provide evidence to support its claims.
