Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko has called on Western allies to continue sending weapons to Ukraine in its war against Russia.
“Please support us,” the former professional boxer said in an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera published today. “We are able to close our airspace on our own,” he said. “But we definitely need to have the right weapons.”
According to him, more than 200 civilians have lost their lives in Kyiv. About 2 million people remain in the city, Klitschko said.
“Do not forget that we are defending our country but at the same time we are defending the fundamental values of European democracy,” he said. “My message is clear: please stop all economic relations with Russia because Putin is using every euro to strengthen his army, which is moving towards us,” he said.
