At least 30 drones were destroyed over Bryansk, which borders Ukraine, according to the region’s governor, Alexander Bogomaz, on the Telegram messaging app.
Russia’s air defense systems also destroyed drones in Smolensk, said Vasily Anokhin, governor of the region which is also in western Russia.
There is no official confirmation of how many drones were shot down.
According to preliminary information, there were no victims or destruction in any of the regions, the governors said.
Russian authorities often fail to recognize the full extent of the damage caused by Ukrainian attacks.
An air raid warning has been announced for the Lipetsk region, hundreds of kilometers south of Moscow, the region’s governor said.
Reuters was unable to independently verify the reports. There was no immediate comment from Ukraine.
Kiev has frequently stated that its attacks inside Russian territory are aimed at undermining Moscow’s war effort and are a response to Russia’s relentless airstrikes on Ukraine’s energy, military and transport infrastructure.
