As many as 61 hospitals in Ukraine have been shut down due to attacks by Russian military forces, Ukrainian Health Minister Viktor Liasko said today.
“Terrorists from the attacking country have shut down 61 hospitals,” he told a television network, adding that authorities could not deliver vital medical supplies to communities on the front line due to a lack of “humanitarian corridors”.
Russia denies launching attacks on civilians.
Earlier in the day, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that attacks on hospitals, ambulances and other health facilities in Ukraine had increased rapidly in recent days and warned that the country was running out of vital medical supplies. The WHO is making efforts to provide immediate medical supplies to Ukraine, where significant shortages are being recorded.
