Authorities in the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolayiv will impose an unusually long curfew from late today until early Monday as they try to track down people working with Russia, the region’s governor said today.
Mykolife, which has been hammered throughout the war since the Russian invasion began on February 24, is close to Russian-held parts of the strategically important Kherson region, where Ukraine is planning a counter-offensive.
Vitaly Kim, governor of the Mykolayiv region, told residents that the curfew, which will be in effect from tonight at 11 p.m. (local and Greek time) until 5 a.m. Monday, does not mean the city is under threat of an imminent attack .
“There is no sign of encirclement. The city will be closed for the weekend. Please be understanding. We are also making efforts regarding partners. District checks will be done,” Kim said in a Telegram post.
