Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said Kiev is ready for a prisoner exchange with Russia “until tomorrow”, as he urged allies to continue pressuring Moscow.
Speaking by videoconference this Monday (23) at the Davos Forum, the Ukrainian president said that the “exchange of people” is a “humanitarian issue” and a “very political decision that depends on the support of many states”.
“It’s really important that the whole world doesn’t beg Russia, no matter the circumstances, or make concessions to Russia,” he said.
“[Eles devem] keep political pressure in any way they can, through powerful trade connections, through closing deals, through oil embargo and through threats, real threats of sanctions, thwarting business, we can actively intensify the exchange of our people for the Russian military. ”
“We don’t need the Russian military, we just need our own. We are ready for an exchange by tomorrow,” Zelensky said.
The Ukrainians also filled “tens of thousands” of black bags with the remains of Russian soldiers left behind, he added.
