Ukraine: Ready to export 280,000 tons of agricultural products

Its Ministry of Infrastructure Ukrainian announced that the country is ready to export 280,000 tons of agricultural products for the World Food Program (WFP) under a UN-brokered agreement.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said yesterday that Russia and the developing world had been cheated by the agreement on agricultural exports. He wishes for its review, as Ukrainian exports do not go, according to him, to the poorest countries in the world as originally intended.

Ukraine says, however, that some 2.37 million tons of food products have already been exported from its Black Sea ports, including 1.04 million tons to Asian countries and 470,000 tons to African states.

“Thanks to partners from the United Nations, another 190,000 tons of grain have already been purchased for further export to the states of the African continent,” the Ukrainian ministry clarified in a statement, in which it did not elaborate further on the remaining 90,000 tons of food products to be exported.

The first exports of this cargo will be made by the bulk cargo ship KARIA ANGEL, which was chartered by WFP and is undergoing inspection in Istanbul, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Infrastructure. “After verification, it will load 30,000 tons of wheat at the port of Chornomorsk,” according to the ministry.

An adviser to the Ukrainian president said yesterday that Russia has no reason to revise the landmark agreement that allows Ukraine to export grain from ports on the Black Sea and that the terms of this wartime deal are being strictly adhered to, APE-MPE reports, citing Reuters.
