Ukraine recaptures town located in neighboring Kherson region

The Ukrainian military recaptured Snihurivka, a town in the southern Mykolaiv region that is on the main road to the Russian-occupied town of Kherson in the neighboring Kherson region.

THE CNN geolocated a video posted on Thursday morning (10) showing Ukrainian troops in a main square of the city holding a country flag, while a group of residents applauds.

“Today, November 10, the Snihurivka settlement was liberated by the 131st military battalion,” says a Ukrainian soldier. “Glory to Ukraine!”

The recapture of Snihurivka is a significant victory for the Ukrainian military in its advance towards the city of Kherson, and comes a day after Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu ordered the withdrawal of Russian forces from the west bank of the Dnipro River, in the Kherson region.

Russian troops withdrawing from Kherson border

Russian military reporters in the northern part of the Kherson region said on Thursday that there had been a retreat in some areas after what was described as “massive enemy attacks”.

A major Russian Telegram channel reported that “there was a withdrawal to support positions” near the town of Snihurivka, which is in the neighboring Mykolaiv region.

“A bridge was also blown up by our forces in this area today,” according to the RVVoenkor channel, which has more than 1 million subscribers.

“Ukrainian sources published a photo with the raising of their flag at the Snihurivka railway station. The settlement is under your control,” she said.

THE CNN geolocated the photograph of the flag on a tower in the city of Snihurivka.

The channel also said that Ukrainians had entered the nearby village of Kalynivske and that “the front line is constantly moving towards Kherson”.
