Ukraine rejects any mediation with Russia that would involve losing territory or freezing the conflict

THE Ukraine rejects any peace mediation with Russia that would not a priori rule out any territorial loss for Kiev or a cessation of hostilities; Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said today from Lisbon.

No peace plan or initiative, no mediation should involve a legal or actual loss of Ukrainian territory“, he said at the end of a meeting with his Portuguese counterpart João Gomes Cravino.

“No initiative, no mediation should be based on the reasoning that we should freeze the conflict and then see what happens,” Kouleba added, speaking in English before journalists as relayed by the Athens News Agency.

The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky met today in Jeddah Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and thanked him for supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty.

From March 2022, a week after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukrainea, the de facto leader of the Gulf monarchy had appealed to find “political solution” in the conflict and offered to mediate during a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Any mediation should lead to the full restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity“, underlined today the head of the diplomacy of Kyiv.

Couleba flew to Lisbon to attend the highly confidential meeting of the Bilderberg Club, which is being held in the Portuguese capital until Sunday this year.

Ukraine, Russia, NATO and transnational threats are among the topics of conversation at this private meeting, which features political and economic figures from Europe and North America.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and the head of European diplomacy are among the list of almost 130 participants presented by the organizers.
