Ukraine: Residents of occupied Mariupol receive 5 liters of drinking water per week

In the city of Mariupol, which is occupied by the Russian troops, its residents receive five liters of drinking water per week, while in order to get to the distribution points they have to take a place in the queue from early in the morning. The relevant announcement was made by the municipal council of the city, with its posting on the social networking medium Telegram, reports the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform.

It is pointed out that drinking water is one of the biggest problems in Mariupol and the people, in order to survive, draw water from puddles and drainage wells. But this water is dangerous because makeshift graves are scattered all over the city and there is garbage everywhere. All of these erode the soil and water, increasing the chances of infections from infectious diseases.

“If these deficiencies are added to the lack of proper medical care, the use of such liquids can have a fatal outcome,” the municipal council said in a statement.

According to the mayor of Mariupol, Vadim Boychenko, the occupiers have been blocking residents’ access to clean drinking water in sufficient quantities for more than two months.

“People are forced to stand in queues or look for alternative solutions. In fact, the quality of the water distributed to them is not controlled by anyone. The conquerors in the center of Europe made it so that the water has turned into real gold,” Boychenko wrote.
