Ukraine: Russia resumes intensive operations in Donbass after a pause

The Ukrainian General Staff announced today that Russian troops are re-escalating their attacks in the eastern part of the country, after regrouping their units.

Ukrainian officials reported repelling Russian attacks in the direction of Bakhmut and near Donetsk in the past 24 hours.

“After regrouping, the enemy resumed the attack on the Buglegirsk thermal power station and the fighting continues.”

This information is impossible to independently verify.

The US Institute for the Study of War (ISW) also estimates that Russian troops are completing their operational pause after the capture of the twin cities of Severodonetsk and Lisitsansk. He added that for now, the hostilities are still small-scale and that “if the cease-fire is indeed over, the Russians will probably continue and expand their attacks in the next 72 hours.”
