Roll down rolls today, Monday (17/10) the recruiting offices in Moscow as the partial mobilization announced by Vladimir Putin done.
“Recruitment offices in Moscow, which have been open for almost a month, will be closed today” characteristically said the mayor Stergei Sobyanin, estimating that its capital of Russia enlisted its quota for sending men to fight in the Ukraine.
“Recruitment offices for those who have been called up for conscription close on October 17, 2022 at 14:00 local time (and Greek time)” Sobyanin said in a statement, without giving information on the number of Muscovites recruited in almost a month.
As he said and broadcasts the Athens News Agency “the objectives of the partial mobilization, established on the basis of the decree of the president and the mission of the Ministry of Defense, were fully met”, allowing the recruitment process in Moscow to end.
“We hope and pray that you return safe and sound,” Sobyanin said.
On Friday, the Russian president Vladimir Putin he said he did not foresee a new wave of Russian recruitment, admitting that the current wave had failures.
He said 222,000 people out of the 300,000 planned have been recruited, of which 16,000 are already “in the units involved in the fighting”.
The Russian leader had added in a press conference that predicts end of recruitment ‘in about two weeks’as his announcement, on September 21, caused widespread concern and prompted tens of thousands of Russians to flee the country to avoid conscription.
Demonstrations against partial conscription were also held in some deprived areas in the first days of conscription.
There have also been many reports on social media of wrongly recruiting men who were not eligible – students, people who were over the age limit or the sick.
The Kremlin had repeatedly condemned these “mistakes” and promised to correct them.
