A Russian armored train appeared in the Kherson region of Ukraine, on a separate and unconnected railway line, about 100 miles from where an armored train bound for Melitopol was spotted on Tuesday.
According to CNNin the videos that have been posted on social media, the characteristic wagons with the guns can be seen and the armored train is moving towards the center of Hersonissos.
A resident of Hersonissos confirmed to the American network that he had seen the train in the city, which was carrying military vehicles.
On Tuesday, CNN reported that a Russian armored military train carrying at least one military vehicle was spotted heading north on another railway line in southeastern Ukraine near Ukraine’s Novooleksiivka. Both armored military trains – the one in Novolexievka and the one in Kherson – came from the Crimea.
Russia’s ability to use and move armored trains freely in parts of southern Ukraine shows that Moscow has control of the area south of the Dnieper River in the greater Kherson region. It could also indicate that the Russians are consolidating their supply lines from bases in annexed Crimea to bolster their military operations in southern Ukraine.
In northern Ukraine, Russian advance has been repeatedly thwarted by Ukrainian military forces who have thwarted several supply trucks.
The Russian side claims that the armored trains are transporting non-Russian foreign nationals from areas of Ukraine to Crimea. Russia’s state media reported on Wednesday that the foreign nationals had been transferred from the Kherson region to Armiansk in Crimea.
