Russian troops have entered the industrial zone of the besieged city of Severodonetsk, Luhansk regional governor Serhiy Haidai said.
The Nitrogen chemical plant is the only facility in the area that has not yet been occupied by the Russian army, Mr. Haidai said via Telegram, stressing that fighting is raging in the area. Nearby villages are being pounded, he added.
About 300 more civilians are still at the Azot plant, according to Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Irina Verestsuk.
If those hiding in the factory want to get out of there, Kyiv will make efforts to open an escape route, the vice-president of the Ukrainian government added, according to reports in the Ukrainian media.
