Ukraine: Russian forces occupy three more cities in Donetsk confirms Kyiv

Russian forces have occupied three cities in the Donetsk region, including Svitlodarsk, Ukrainian regional governor Pavlo Kirilenko told Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty.

Earlier today, the leadership of the Moscow-backed self-proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic” announced via Telegram that its forces had occupied Svitlodarsk and replaced the Ukrainian with the Russian flag.

Svitlodarsk is located 80 kilometers southwest of Sheverodonetsk, which has been a key target of Russian military operations in recent days.

“The situation on the eastern front is extremely difficult, because the fate of our country may be being judged there at the moment,” Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Motuzyanik said today.

Ukraine: The battles on the eastern front will decide the fate of the country

Fighting in eastern Ukraine could determine the fate of the country, Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Motuzyanik said today.

Three months after the start of the war, Russian forces attempt to encircle Ukrainian troops in two towns on the banks of the Siversky Donetsk River. According to Motuzyanik, Russian forces have not given up trying to cross the river.

“We are now watching the most active phase of the large-scale offensive launched by Russia against our country,” he said in a televised press conference.

“The situation on the eastern front is extremely difficult, because the fate of our country is probably being judged there at the moment,” he stressed.
