A Russian missile attack on the town of Kropyvnytskyi in central Ukraine killed one person, damaged two energy facilities and caused power outages for civilians and the railway, Ukrainian authorities said on Thursday.
One of the objects hit was a repair and production facility, Ukraine's national network operator Ukrenergo said on messaging app Telegram.
“The damage did not cause main grid failures,” Ukrenergo added.
It was not immediately clear what other type of facility had been attacked, but the target was connected to another energy operator.
In a separate statement, the Ministry of Energy said repair teams were working to restore power supply to consumers and the railway.
Russia likely used an X-59 missile, regional governor Andriy Raikovych said in a statement.
“Ordinary workers were injured… One worker, unfortunately, died. A simple car mechanic,” he said.
At least seven people were injured, according to official data. Raikovych added on messaging app Telegram that all those injured suffered shrapnel injuries.
Russia intensified attacks on Ukraine at the turn of the year, launching hundreds of missiles of different types and “Shahed” drones since December 29 last year.
