Russian officials have attempted to enter and take full control of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, the head of the state-owned Ukrainian nuclear power company Energoatom said today.
Petro Kotin said Russian forces told station workers, Ukrainian workers, that the plant now belonged to Russian state-owned Rosatom, following its capture last week. Ten Rosatom executives, including two chief engineers, then tried unsuccessfully to enter the plant and take over, Kotin added in a televised interview.
“There are about 500 Russian soldiers with automatic weapons in the area of the station. Our personnel are in a very bad psychological state,” Kotin said.
