Ukraine says Russian army ‘continues to attack’ in Severodonetsk

The fight continues in the city of Severodonetsk in eastern Ukraine, where the situation is “even more difficult” and “the enemy continues to attack”, according to the head of the military administration of the Luhansk region, this Sunday (29).

Serhiy Hayday said in a statement that 60 houses had been destroyed in the area and two people were found dead in the rubble.

He said one of the victims was a girl who died when a Russian shell hit a building in Lysychansk on Saturday, wounding four others. A movie theater and 22 houses were also damaged in an air strike.

Separately, in an operational update on Sunday, the general staff of Ukraine’s armed forces said that Russia “carried out aggression operations in the area of ​​the city of Severodonetsk”, where “the fighting continues”.

Attacks in other regions

In Slovinsk, about 60 kilometers to the west, Russia carried out “intensive reconnaissance” in the city and, in the surroundings, conducted air strikes in the Dovhenke area and also artillery strikes on civilian buildings in Bohorodychne and Sviatohirsk.

Elsewhere, the military reported further Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure in towns and villages between Ukraine’s second-largest city Kharkiv and the Russian border.

Ruski Tyshky, Petrivka and Ternova were among the places hit. The Russian army has also been conducting remote mining in these areas, according to the statement.

Several settlements near the Black Sea coast in southern Ukraine also suffered damage from a fire to civilian infrastructure, including Lymany, Stepova Dolyna, Luch, Partyzany, Chervony Yar and Trudoliubivka.
