Ukraine says Russian troops in the east suffer from resupply problems

The Ukrainian Armed Forces said on Sunday that while Russia continued to prepare reinforcements for an offensive in the east, its troops were facing supply problems.

In a statement posted on Facebook, Ukrainian forces claim that “the Russian military is constantly complaining about the lack of rotation, equipment that constantly fails, quality of food and fuel supplied.”

Ukraine reported relatively little fighting overnight, but said Russia continued to launch air strikes in Mariupol, where Ukrainian units besieged at a steel mill are still resisting.

The Armed Forces also stated that in areas under Russian occupation “the looting and violence of the Russian military against the civilian population continues. These actions are encouraged by your military command.”

Joint Forces Ukraine Operation, responsible for the military action in the east, said 10 Russian attacks were repulsed on Saturday and 15 Russian tanks and other equipment were destroyed.

Serhii Haidai, head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, said four skyscrapers in the city of Severodonetsk were hit and caught fire. He did not provide details about victims.

Haidai previously estimated that 70% of the city is already destroyed. “There is almost nothing to destroy there. The enemy has destroyed most of the housing stock during the last six weeks,” he said.
