Ukraine: SBU announces dismantling network of Russian military espionage agents

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) announced today that as soon as the Russian invasion began, it dismantled a network of Russian military espionage agents, in which Ukrainian MP Andrei Derkats also participated.

According to the SBU, Derkats coordinated the creation of a number of private security companies in various sectors, in order to use these divisions for the rapid occupation of Ukraine. The Russian military spy had $ 3-4 million every few months to carry out these plans.

The spy network was completely dismantled when the SBU arrested Igor Kalensikov, a former adviser to Derkats. Kalesnikov was an unofficial collaborator of the Central Directorate of the General Staff of Russia, the liaison and financial messenger between the Russian secret services and Derkats.

Following his arrest, he cooperated with the investigating authorities and made many important statements about the network’s activities and its role in preparing for the large-scale war, according to a statement issued by the Security Service of Ukraine.
