Ukraine seizes cargo ship accused of carrying grain from Russian-occupied Crimea

Ukrainian authorities have announced the arrest of a Cameroon-flagged cargo ship off Odessa, accused of carrying grain originating from Russian-occupied Crimea, the Security Services of Ukraine (SBU) announced. At least twice, the Usko MFU entered the port of Sevastopol with its AIS system disabled to lose track, according to Ukraine’s attorney general, who said at least the first time, in November 2023, the ship departed carrying 3,000 tons of agricultural products on behalf of a Turkish company. Russian forces seized rural areas of southern Ukraine in the first year of the Russian invasion in 2022, and Kiev accuses Russia of stealing and destroying its grain.
