Several humanitarian corridors outside Ukrainian cities and villages, including from the besieged southern port of Mariupol, will open on Saturday so citizens can leave, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Irina Verestsuk said, adding that she hoped Russia would keep a ceasefire so that this can be done, Reuters reported.
She said Ukraine planned to evacuate residents of several towns and villages in the Kiev and Sumy areas and some other areas where fighting is taking place.
“I hope the day goes well, all the planned routes will be open and Russia will fulfill its obligations to guarantee a ceasefire,” Verestsuk said in a videotaped speech.
Efforts for the safe passage of Mariupol residents have repeatedly failed this week.
