Ukraine: Shells fell near the Interior Ministry’s location

Mortar shells fell near the site of Ukrainian Interior Minister Denis Monastirsky, who was touring the front line in the east of the country today, according to reporters from the French Agency.

The incident, in which no one was injured, took place near the village of Novoluganske, in the Donetsk region, on the front line with pro-Russian separatists, where the minister was touring, accompanied by Ukrainian MPs.

The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a rally marking the end of Monastirsky’s separatist presence in Ukraine.

Journalists and officials left shortly afterwards.

Two soldiers killed and four wounded in the bombing

The Ukrainian military said earlier that two soldiers had been killed and four wounded in the bombing today. At least one of them, a 35-year-old sergeant father of three, was killed near Novoluganske early in the morning.

According to the Ukrainian security forces, 70 violations have been reported so far, 60 of which used “weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements”. As a result, two Ukrainian soldiers were fatally wounded and four others were wounded.

The Ukrainian Joint Forces operation in Donbas assured that it “controls the situation and responds appropriately to possible enemy threats.”

For their part, the forces of the self-proclaimed People’s Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk accused the Ukrainian army of violating the ceasefire. According to the Luhansk separatist authorities, in the last 24 hours, Ukrainian soldiers violated the ceasefire 31 times and bombed 16 settlements.
