Ukraine: Sky News correspondents fall into a Russian ambush

Sky News correspondents were ambushed by Russians, with the incident occurring about 30 kilometers from Kyiv earlier in the week.

The Sky News crew was driving in an area near the Ukrainian capital when it came under Russian fire.

“I remember thinking my death would be painful,” a Sky News correspondent said after the incident.

The camera operator, Richie Mockler, was hit twice by bullets in his bulletproof vest, while the correspondent, Stuart Ramsey, was injured. Their experience shows the magnitude of the chaos and violence as the Russian invasion continues unabated.

The report states that the shooting was “professional, the bullets kept hitting the car – they did not miss”.

Journalists initially thought they had been hit by Ukrainian soldiers by mistake, and shouted at them that they were reporters, but when the bullets did not stop they realized that something was wrong. Later, they were informed that they were attacked by Russians, Sky News reports.

Eventually, they managed to get out of the car and found shelter in a factory in the area.
