Powerful explosion took place in the center of Donetsk on Friday afternoon (18/2), a Sputnik correspondent reported. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a building housing the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
According to the Russian media, a car was blown up in a parking lot near the building at around 7 pm local time, with an explosion being heard throughout the city.
Emergency services have been developed in the area.

A Sputnik correspondent said the surrounding buildings did not appear to have been damaged, and that no one was injured in the blast, according to Russia’s Interfax news agency.
Mass evacuation of the area
Russian-backed separatists in eastern Ukraine gathered children at an orphanage in the breakaway region today to begin transporting them to Russia, Russia’s Interfax news agency reported.
The self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic announced earlier today the mass evacuation of the region and the promotion of its inhabitants to Russia, following the increase in bombings. The self-proclaimed People’s Republic of Luhansk later issued a similar statement.
