Sweden has relocated all staff of its embassy in Ukraine to Poland, Foreign Minister Anne Linde said today. “The Russian military offensive against Ukraine and the rapidly deteriorating security situation mean that Sweden, like other countries, has decided that all its embassy staff will temporarily leave Ukraine. The embassy staff is now safe in Poland.” mentioned in a post on Twitter.
At the same time, the Finnish Foreign Ministry announced that the permanent mission and all Finnish citizens working at the Finnish Embassy in Ukraine had left the country. “Staff safety is a priority and they have been given the opportunity to leave Kiev,” the ministry said.
In the meantime, Estonians in Belarus should return to Estonia as far as possible and avoid unnecessary travel to the country, the Estonian Foreign Ministry said.
Russian troops invaded Ukraine earlier today, some via Belarus.
