The former owner of a well-known aircraft engine manufacturer in Central Ukraine was arrested and accused of high treason, Ukrainian media reported yesterday Saturday, citing imgs close to the security forces.
Vyacheslav Bohuslaev, “honorary chairman” of Motor Sich, in the city of Zaporizhia, the capital of Zaporizhia province, was taken into custody and taken to Kyiv in a motorcade, according to reports.
Ukrainian media explained how Mr. Bohuslaev, a former member of the Ukrainian parliament, is alleged to have cooperated with and provided assistance to Russian forces holding parts of four Ukrainian regionsas reported by Reuters and Athens News Agency.
The city of Zaporizhia remains under the control of the Ukrainian armed forces. The region of the same name is one of four that Russia announced it had annexed, a move not recognized by the international community.
Journalist Irina Romaliska, in her Facebook post, also cited imgs in the Ukrainian security services as saying that Mr. Bohuslaev is known to have a pro-Russian stance, allegedly supplying the Russia with parts of helicopters and aircraft and to have contacts with the Russian secret services.
Motor Sich is a well-known manufacturer of aircraft engines, and also produces industrial turbines. In 2021, Ukrainian authorities prevented attempts by Chinese companies to acquire it.
