The President of the Bundestag, Berbel Bass, arrived in Kyiv today, where she intends to take part in the celebrations for the end of World War II in Europe 77 years ago.
The Social Democrat politician is the second highest-ranking German official after the president and therefore the most important German politician to visit Ukraine since the Russian invasion.
Bass traveled to Kyiv at the invitation of Ukrainian Parliament Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk.
The President of the Bundestag will lay a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier and at the Babi Yar, the memorial to the executed Ukrainian Jews by the German parliament.
Bass is also scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
