The UN General Assembly is meeting again tomorrow, Wednesday, to discuss the crisis in Ukraine and may vote on a draft resolution stipulating the humanitarian consequences of Russia’s attack.
This text is expected to be approved by a large majority of the 193-member body, in which no state has the right to veto.
It is possible, though not certain, that the vote will take place tomorrow, according to diplomatic sources. The goal is to get at least 141 votes, as in the previous resolution condemning the war, which was approved earlier this month.
The first draft, consulted by the German Agency, calls for an end to hostilities on the part of Russia, and in particular attacks on political infrastructure and civilians. He also called on Moscow to withdraw its troops from Ukraine as soon as possible.
A competing draft decision has also been drawn up by South Africa, which does not mention Russia by name. It is unclear whether it will be put to the vote.
