Three swimmers were killed by non -explored objects in the South Odessa area of Ukraine on two beaches, where swimming was banned, regional officials said today. Regional Governor Oleg Kipper said one man was killed in Caroline-Bouhaz, while another man and woman were killed near the rural settlement of Zatoka and in a coast area near the regional capital. “All of them were blown up by explosive devices while swimming in banned areas,” the commander said in a statement. “These incidents prove that staying in marine waters that have not been tested is deadly dangerous !!!” The Black Sea area is a popular summer destination, but authorities have drawn the attention of swimmers, as there are scattered mines near the coast. Kipper said that 32 areas have been declared safe for swimming, while 30 of them are in the city of Odessa. Source: RES
