Two more ships sailed from Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea today, the Turkish Defense Ministry announced, bringing the total number of ships that have sailed from the country to 16.
The Barbados-flagged Fulmar S sailed from the port of Chornomorsk carrying 12,000 tons of corn to the southern Turkish province of Alexandretta. The second vessel, Thoe, under the flag of the Marshall Islands, sailed from the same port bound for Raidesto, Turkey, carrying 3,000 tonnes of sunflower seeds.
The same statement added that another ship will sail from Turkey to Ukraine today, in order to transport quantities of grain.
Ukraine’s Transport Ministry announced today that 16 ships carrying 450,000 tons of agricultural products have sailed from Ukrainian ports since early August under the agreement guaranteeing their safe navigation.
The agreement, signed by Ukraine, Russia, Turkey and the UN in July, allows the resumption of grain exports from Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea after being suspended for five months due to Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Ukraine hopes to increase its seaborne exports to more than 3 million tons of grain and other agricultural products per month in the near future.
