The State Railway Agency in Ukraine is ready to organize exports of agricultural products by train as a matter of urgency, as announced today, after the closure of Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea, due to the military invasion of Russia.

Ukraine is a major producer and exporter of agricultural products, while traditionally exporting its wheat by ship.

“This situation is not only a problem for Ukraine, whose grain exports cover 11% of the world market, while its share of exports of sunflower oil is 55%,” the Ukrainian Railways said on social media. .

“In order to prevent a global food crisis and to save Ukrainian exports, the Ukrainian Railways are ready to urgently organize the transport of agricultural products by train,” the statement said.
