On the occasion of him war in Ukraine and the foreign policy followed by Russia towards Europe, the Poland announced that it will buy from USA 116 used tanks Abrams.
According to Reuters, Poland has pledged to increase its defense spending to 3% of its GDP and more than double the size of its army to prevent any possible attack after Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.
“We reached a contract with the US on the purchase on preferential terms of 116 used Abrams tanks,” said Marius Blazak to state broadcaster TVP Info, adding that the deal would “significantly enhance” Poland’s defense capabilities.
In fact, the deal comes in addition to the contract for the purchase of 250 Abrams tanks that was announced in April, while Blazak did not disclose the financial terms of the deal.
