Ukraine war: Russians have killed more than 50 Ukrainian prisoners of war, says Kiev

The Ukrainian prosecutor's office announced today that it has learned of 54 cases in which Russian soldiers allegedly shot Ukrainian prisoners of war. A total of 27 criminal proceedings have been initiated, said Yury Belusov, head of the department responsible for war crimes at the state prosecutor's office. The most recent case of the execution of a prisoner of war, according to APE-MPE, took place on Sunday in public view, based on video filmed from the village of Krinki in the southern Ukrainian province of Kherson. The first shooting of a Ukrainian prisoner of war was recorded in March 2022. A court decision has already been issued in the case of the execution of a prisoner by a Russian soldier in the northern Ukrainian province of Chernihiv. In most cases, however, investigations are hampered by the fact that Ukrainian investigators do not have access to the site or the bodies.
