Ukraine should allocate money in next year’s budget to build a fence on its border with Belarus and Russia to prevent a possible influx of illegal immigrants, Interior Minister Denis Monastirsky told parliament on Friday.
Monastiski said Ukraine was planning new military exercises in the next two weeks to prepare in the event of migrants trying to cross the border illegally. Ukraine is wary of becoming a new flashpoint in the migration crisis on Belarus’ border with the European Union, which Russia accuses of inciting.
“Our main task is to curb and stop a possible mass flow of illegal immigrants,” Monastirski said.
